Spring is well and truly here and there is so much to celebrate. Not only is it the beginning of the birthday season in our house but it is also May and soon to be May day. Who doesn’t love a bank holiday?
We bring mathematics into the equation and discuss how less is more when it comes to learning methods. We share a great mathematical resource from the university of Plymouth www.cimt.org.uk
Hear how things are going with our meditation course.
Finally, due to the overwhelming building work and business from home set up, we have decided to take a break from recording for a while until things settle down and we can focus. We will be back in the Autumn if not before.
Please keep posted as we will continue to share, comment and post the odd tidbit throughout spring and Summer. Thank you all for your support and for listening. Do keep in contact, we are not disappearing, just not recording.
Our apologies in advance for this not particularly positive podcast. With the absence of Frogger and Toad (staying with relatives) Sarah and Paul take to the microphone to have a good old whinge about DIY, renovations and plaster.
As our shed clearing task sheds new challenges in our path, we discuss those jobs that you wish you’d never started and encourage you to get in touch with your stories.
Practical Zen, a guide to mindfulness by Julian Daizan Skinner gives us an insightful introduction to take charge of our own mental health and happiness.
Welcome to our little podcast, bringing you a spot of educational sunshine to brighten this dreary start to April.
We plunge head first into the Charlotte mason curriculum as provided, for free, in the amblesideonline website. In our first week of this 12 week term trial, frogger and toad share their thoughts about it and we discuss the key aspects.
Frogger tells us a cautionary tale of brain over brute.
Spring has begun, believe it or not, and as nature opens up to reveal new life and a fresh face of green, we prepare for and discuss Easter, the origins predating the Romans and how it correlates with the more common celebration from the Christian religion as Jesus Christ is remembered.
We discuss Easter eggs, the newly approved deposit scheme for recycling and the children share their weekly highlights.
After being predictably useless we forgot to take our recording equipment on our day out in the woods, so instead we discuss and recall our adventures after the event.
Find out whether our Charlotte Mason experiment of reciting poetry has worked as Frogger tests out her ‘unlearned’ poems. Toad, meanwhile is extremely enthusiastic about this weeks podcasts.
Baby G reached a new milestone and the children share their scores of the week.
Finally, we are looking at changing our format to freshen things up a bit. Have you got any ideas or suggestions about things you’d like us to try out or include. Please get in contact with us, don’t be shy!
A full house again this week as Frogger is fully recovered from her short illness, just in time too as we were still able to attend the pantomime we were very much looking forward to. For next years pantomime and to find out more visit eastdurhamcreates.co.uk.
We are still battling against plastic and finding the task rather infuriating and frustrating but we are plodding on. Check out plasticfreepantry.co.uk for some kitchen essentials.
As January draws to a close we share what we are working on this term and the subjects we are covering, plus join Frogger and Toad for their scores of the week.
